A Wedding - Rachael & Carol
I don't photograph many weddings, but when I do it's often for friends or small intimate ceremonies. Rachael & Carol's wedding ceremony was one such intimate and touching event. It was simple, but beautiful at the cozy Gates of Heaven Synagogue in James Madison Park. A snowy day, but the light inside was soft and warm. I like it when a ceremony is more about the relationship than the show. It was quite evident and moving with Rachael & Carol. Rachael's mother gave the most heart-felt tribute to them at the end of the wedding. There were tears all around. All lgbt children would be so fortunate to have such love and support from their parents.

Amos - Over the Road Trucker
Amos stopped to have lunch with me at the TA Truck Stop while on his way to Minnesota from Indiana. I've been chatting him about doing some work together for my trucker photo project. Connecting with these guys is difficult given their transient and constantly changing schedule. It's kind of like fishing, I keep casting out my line, wait, get a few nibbles and finally get a bite. I'm itchin' to get out on the road again.

Lake Superior Ice Caves - Apostle Islands National Lakeshore
Extreme cold temperatures this winter has created a glorious display of ice formations along the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore at the northern most tip of Wisconsin. Only accessible by boat in the summer, the lake ice is thick enough this year to access the Lake Superior Ice Caves on foot. It's well work the journey, the single digit temperatures, and the 1.5 mile trek on the ice. Mother nature at her best, the Lake Superior Ice Caves are a true natural wonder.

Endless Winter 2014
It seems that this is one of the coldest and snowy winters since my arrival in WI over 20 years ago. The first few snowfalls can be beautiful, but once we start moving close February, I keep asking myself, "what was I thinking by moving to WI?". For those with their own home, a snowblower and a good shovel is a must. In Madison, if you don't shovel your sidewalks by noon the day following a measurable snowfall, you run the risk of a $124.00 citation. It's a pain for the homeowner, but it sure makes life easier for the pedestrian.

Portraits - Cole
Had a portraits session with Cole as a favor to me to have some non-pressure time in my apartment portrait studio to refine my portrait lighting. I also added some treatment to the final images by increasing the contrast and reducing the saturation. I sort of dig it.

Portraits - Yannick
Yannick is a professional snowboarder from Belgium. Yannick hates being in front of the camera, and consequently his mother has no recent photo his. When a friend had heard this, he gifted him a portrait session so Yannick could send a portrait back to his mother for Christmas. Despite his reluctance, I managed to capture some nice images portraits.

Madison Santa Swimsuit Run - 2013
On one of the coldest days of the year, swimsuit clad runners took to the Madison Capitol Square for charity. The Santa Swimsuit Run starts with a pre-party where the majority tank up on booze to get prepared for the run. Two laps around the square and back to the post party for more. It's all good fun and for a good cause.
